There is a solid wood furniture factory clearance at the Sofamann Home Expo in Ipoh from 6 to 9 November 2026, advertised as more than 100 items starting from RM69. It lands on the Deepavali weekend, with the festival on 8 November, so quite a few of us will already be on the North South Expressway that Saturday anyway. The part that never makes it onto the poster is the second bill. A dining set that looks like a steal in Perak still has to reach a fourth floor walk-up in Puchong, and lorry delivery is usually quoted separately, sometimes per item. Add toll and fuel for the round trip and the gap against a mall showroom narrows quickly, especially when you are only buying one piece. So I would like to hear from people who have actually done this. Does the joinery at these factory clearances hold up after a few monsoons, will the shop take a deposit and hold the unit until you can arrange transport, and has anyone managed to fold the delivery into the price instead of paying it on top? If you went to one of these expo sales in previous years, tell us what day one looked like compared with the last day.

Drove up to a furniture factory sale in Ipoh two years ago for a dining set. The set itself was fine, the shock was the lorry quote back to Selangor, which came in at almost a third of what I paid for the table.
Ask them to write the delivery arrangement and the collection deadline on the invoice, not just on the receipt. These are clearance units, so once the sale ends the crew moves on and nobody wants to go chasing your item around a warehouse in December.
Go on the first morning if you want the full range. By the afternoon the small pieces are gone and whatever is left is either very large or has a scratch the staff will cheerfully point out to you.
Solid wood is heavier than it looks, so bring a second person and a trolley if you plan to self collect. We underestimated it and spent twenty minutes just getting a bench into the boot of the car.
Look at the underside of the table and the corner joints, not the top. The top is always sanded nicely because that is what gets photographed, but the frame underneath tells you how the thing was actually put together.
Does anyone know whether these expo halls take cards or if it is cash only? The last warehouse sale I went to had one working terminal for the entire hall and a very long queue behind it.
