The AirAsia sale opened on 20 October 2026 and the booking window closes on 25 October 2026. The advertised discount is up to 30% off eligible one-way base fares on selected flights departing from Kuala Lumpur, with travel dates running from 2 November 2026 to 30 September 2027. The routes listed include Penang, Tokyo, Manila, Melbourne and Beijing, and there is a one-time flight change fee waiver in there too, subject to the usual terms. The part I keep coming back to is the word base fare. The discount never touches airport tax, baggage, seat selection or the admin fee, so on a short hop like KL to Penang the saving at the payment page looks nothing like the 30% in the banner, while on a long haul it is genuinely worth having. What I cannot work out is whether booking inside a six-day window like this beats waiting for the zero-fare and free-seat campaigns that usually turn up later in the year. My own record is mixed: the sale fares are decent when the dates are already fixed, and useless when I am still arguing with my wife about which week we can take leave. If you have booked on the first day of these AirAsia sales before, did the fare hold or did it drop again a few weeks later? And does the change fee waiver actually make it safe to grab a date you are not sure about?

I check the figure at the payment page rather than the one on the app banner. The banner quotes the base fare, and once a bag and a seat are added the gap against the normal price is much narrower than the poster suggests.
Booked KL to Penang for early December this morning. The difference was real but not dramatic, and honestly what made me click was the change fee waiver because our dates are still a bit shaky at work.
Does the 30% land on the lowest bucket fare or only on the higher classes? Every time I open one of these sales, the cheapest fare on my actual date has already gone by the time I reach the calendar.
For anyone flying out of KLIA2, work out the baggage first. A fare with no checked bag is fine for a weekend in Penang and miserable for Tokyo, and the add-on is where the sale quietly evaporates.
Worth noting the travel window runs all the way to September next year. If your trip falls in the long school break, locking a fare now is decent protection against the spike that comes later.
Do the MOVE app prices and the website prices match on the same route? I have had the app show one number and the browser another, and I never worked out which one was the real offer.
