Deepavali falls on Sunday 8 November this year, which puts most open houses on 7 and 8 November — the same weekend every catering outlet and dessert chain is already booked. That is why the festival group-order promotions are all live by late October. MIXUE's Deepavali group order promotion runs 23 October to 8 November, with Bundle A at RM12 and Bundle B at RM18, ordered only through their app or mini program and only at selected stores. Handy for drinks and dessert for the cousins, but the bundle is a fixed set, so it only works if you roughly know the headcount and someone can collect it on the day. For thirty people the real question is what to outsource and what to keep at home. Most families I know order the heavy dishes and cook the things that travel badly, but there is a point where half-cooking is more stressful than ordering everything and letting one outlet own the risk. If you have done group orders for a festival before: how early did you have to book, and did the outlet actually hold the slot on the day itself?

We tried group ordering for last year's open house and the collection slot slipped by forty minutes, so now we keep the drinks and dessert ordered and cook everything else ourselves at home.
Has anyone seen what is actually inside the two bundles? Group sets usually mean one is drinks only and the other is dessert, and that decides whether it covers a headcount or just keeps the kids quiet.
Collect in the afternoon, not during lunch. The outlet near us stops taking festival orders by the morning of the open house and then you are queuing behind everyone who left it to the day.
We split it down the middle. The caterer does the mutton and the payasam, we do the vegetables and the rice. Nobody wants to be frying in the kitchen at seven in the morning on the festival day.
Check whether the offer is every outlet or selected stores only. The promo pages are vague about it and the branch nearest me did not participate in the last festival run.
For thirty people I would book the slot a week ahead and call to confirm the day before. An app confirmation does not always mean the outlet has your order logged in the kitchen.
