Dunlopillo's year end sale at Mid Valley runs 2 to 8 November, is the mattress trade-in actually worth it?

The Dunlopillo Malaysia year end sale is listed for 2 to 8 November at Mid Valley Megamall, up to 70% off mattresses with trade-in rewards advertised up to RM1,500, plus buy-one-free-one on selected sets. My current queen has a visible sag on my side of the bed after about six years, so I am finally in the market. What I want to know is whether that trade-in figure is real money off the already marked-down price, or a voucher that only works on a full-price model. Second, does the shop take the old mattress away on the same day, because getting a queen down from a walk-up flat is the part I dread more than the payment itself. If you have done one of these before, did they inspect the old set and knock the value down when they saw the stains? And did anyone get more by selling the old one to a mover on Carousell instead of trading it in at the counter?

Check whether the trade-in is per piece or per set. When I asked at a similar sale last year the RM1,500 was the ceiling for a king plus a bedframe, and a queen on its own was quoted nowhere near that.

The disposal is the bit worth negotiating. Two shops I spoke to would take the old mattress away only if you also bought the bedframe, so ask that before you sit down to pick a model.

Six years with a sag on one side is normal for the cheaper foam-top ones. Rotating it every few months buys time, but once the springs go on the side you sleep on it does not come back.

I would not trade in a mattress that is still usable. A mover on Carousell took mine for RM150 and carried it down three floors, which beat waiting for a lorry slot at the mall on a Saturday.

Ask what the warranty looks like when it comes from sale stock. Display sets and last-year models are often sold without the full cover, and nobody at the counter mentions it unless you ask.

Does the buy one free one apply across the range or only to two of the same model? Last round it was the same model twice, which is useless unless you happen to have a spare room to furnish.
