HOMEDEC KL runs 29 October to 1 November at KLCC — do expo prices for kitchen cabinets actually survive the site visit?

I am planning a kitchen and wardrobe reno next year, and the calendar has just handed me HOMEDEC Kuala Lumpur at KL Convention Centre from 29 October to 1 November, 10am to 8pm. The banner advertises up to 80% off home improvement deals, which I have learned to read as "the display pieces and the end-of-line door colours are", but I still want to handle the hardware in person before I commit to anything. What I actually want out of a fair like this is three comparable quotes for the same carcass and the same door finish, not the cheapest laminate on the floor. Last time I walked in without measurements and spent the entire afternoon describing my kitchen from memory, and the number I left with moved twice after the site visit. So for anyone who has bought cabinets or a built-in wardrobe at HOMEDEC before: do you bring your own floor plan and measurements on paper, and does the expo price actually hold once the carpenter has seen the actual walls? And is the first day better for getting a salesperson who knows the carpentry, or does the last weekend have the better clearance on the display units? Parking at KLCC on a sale weekend is its own budget line, so I would rather plan one trip properly than go twice.

Bring the floor plan with the numbers written on it, not just photos on the phone. The moment they see figures on paper they quote you a real number instead of asking for a site visit first.

The 80% mostly lands on display units and door colours that are being discontinued. If you have your heart set on a current finish, budget the normal figure and treat whatever comes off as a bonus.

Weekends there are rough for getting anyone's attention, twenty minutes of waiting before a salesperson reaches you. A weekday morning gets you the one who actually knows the carpentry instead of the one hired for the fair.

Ask what the deposit covers and whether it comes back if the site visit turns up something nobody expected. That clause is where most of the arguments after these fairs start.

Quoted a wardrobe at one of these three years ago and the figure held, but the installation slot was six weeks out. Ask about lead time before you hand over anything.

Take the quote home and read the itemised lines side by side. Two quotes for the same cabinet differ on whether hinges and drawer runners are inside the price, and that gap is not small.
