KOSÉ and DECORTÉ mark down up to 75% at The Starling from 28 October — is beauty sale stock usually near expiry?

The KOSÉ and DECORTÉ J-Beauty mega sale runs from 28 October to 1 November 2026 at The Starling, advertised at up to 75% off skincare, makeup and beauty products. Wednesday the 28th is the first day, which for most warehouse events is when the pallets are still sorted and the staff have not yet pushed the leftovers into one corner. What I keep going back and forth on is the age of the stock. Beauty clearance is not the same animal as a cookware or luggage sale: a serum that has been sitting in a mall storage room for two years is a different purchase from one made this season, and 75% off is exactly the sort of figure that shows up when a line is being discontinued or repackaged. So for anyone who has been to one of these brand mega sales before: do the bottles at The Starling carry a readable manufacturing date on the box, and will the staff actually let you check the batch code before paying? Also keen to hear whether the markdowns sit on the full range or only on selected lines, and whether the gift sets are worth taking apart or are mostly miniature filler. I am not driving over for a maybe, so any detail from the last beauty warehouse sale around Klang Valley would help.

Ask the counter which lines they cannot reorder. Staff will usually say it straight when a range is being replaced, and that answer tells you more about why the markdown is deep than any date stamp on the box.

Bring tissues and your own hand sanitiser, every tester on those tables is shared by the whole queue. Also keep a photo of the batch code on the outer box in case you want to check it later at home.

Take the gift boxes apart before you commit. The presentation tin looks generous until you open it and find two miniatures plus a pouch doing most of the volume.

Worth walking the department store counters in the same mall first. If the same serum is already reduced upstairs, the warehouse price is not as dramatic as the banner suggests.

Does the 75% apply across the range or only to the older lines they are clearing? Last beauty event I went to, the deep cuts were all on discontinued shades and the popular ones sat at a modest reduction.

Go on the Wednesday or Thursday if you can. By the weekend the queue at the payment table eats most of the morning, and half the shades in the display are already gone.

Ask to see the batch code on the box before you queue at the till. Two of the sets I picked up at the last J-beauty event had under a year left, fine for a serum you finish in three months and not for a gift box you keep for Deepavali.

Ask whether the travel sizes are inside the markdown. At the last event the small sets carried the deepest cuts and they are the sane way to try the line without committing to a full bottle.
