Payday sales run from 21 to 28 October — do you move your savings out first, or shop and see what is left?

The payday promotions have already started. Katrin BJ's payday sale runs 21 to 28 October on Lazada and Shopee, AEON's Household Essentials Sale runs 22 October to 1 November, and HLA's year-end sale starts 23 October with 20% off one or two items and 40% off three. None of them wait for the salary to actually land in the account. What I keep going back and forth on is the order of operations. If I move the savings out on the morning of payday, the rest of the month is decided for me and I just live inside whatever is left. If I wait until after the sales are over, there is usually nothing left to move. So how do you sequence it in practice — transfer to savings first and shop only from the remainder, or spend through payday week and save whatever survives? And has anyone actually tracked whether a payday-tagged price is lower than the same item two weeks later, or is the label doing most of the work?

I transfer a fixed amount out on the 25th before I open any shopping app, otherwise the cart wins. The hard part is picking that number in advance when the month before was an expensive one.

Has anyone compared a payday price against the same item two weeks later? I have a feeling the label is doing more work than the actual discount.

For me the problem is not the saving, it is the delivery dates. Order during payday week and the parcel lands after the campaign ends, so you cannot return and rebuy if it drops further.

I split the salary three ways on payday: rent and bills, savings, then whatever is left is the shopping budget. When that budget runs out I stop, the sales still being on does not change anything.

Do the payday vouchers apply on top of the sale price, or do the platforms cap it at one code per order? That is usually what decides whether it is worth the effort.

My rule is to only buy what was already on my list before the sale started. If the promotion is what introduced the item, it was never really a saving.
