PeKa Sihat opened on 1 November for STR recipients over 40 - has anyone actually done the free screening yet?

PeKa Sihat, the rebranded PeKa B40, was highlighted on 1 November 2026 and the eligibility check itself takes about two minutes on the website if you have your MyKad number. There is no registration step first: if you are on STR and 40 or above, the record already exists, and a spouse on the same STR file qualifies too as long as they are also 40 and over. What I cannot work out is the practical side. The screening runs at participating private clinics and Klinik Kesihatan, and it seems to cover blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and the kidney panel, but nobody I have asked can tell me how long the visit actually takes or whether the clinic adds a charge for anything beyond the basic panel. The bigger numbers are the equipment assistance, which goes up to RM20,000, and the RM1,000 cancer treatment incentive, and those are worth understanding properly if a parent is already dealing with something. The transport assistance is the other one. It is quoted as up to RM500 in the peninsula and up to RM1,000 for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan, but I have no idea whether that comes off the bill at the counter or whether you pay first and wait to be reimbursed. With RM80 million allocated under Budget 2027 this is not going to vanish next month, but the end of the year is when the clinics get busy, so I would rather sort it out now. If you or your parents have used it, tell us which clinic, how long it took and what was actually covered.

Checked my father's status on the website last night and it came back eligible in under a minute. Booked him at a panel clinic near his flat for Wednesday and they asked him to fast from 10pm the night before. The clinic could not tell me on the phone whether the extra tests beyond the basic panel cost anything.

Did mine earlier this year under the old name and it was genuinely free. They took blood, weighed me, checked the pressure and printed a one page summary. The follow up consultation for the cholesterol reading is the part that was not covered, so budget for that.

On the equipment side, a friend's mother got a wheelchair through the programme. The paperwork was handled by the panel clinic rather than the hospital, so ask the clinic before you buy anything out of pocket, they said the claim would not have gone through retrospectively.

The transport claim is the bit I could not pin down. I called the hotline twice and got two different answers, one said claim at the clinic and the other said keep the receipts and submit online. Has anyone here actually been paid for it?

Worth doing even if you feel completely fine. My pressure reading came back at 158 over 96 with no symptoms at all, went to a Klinik Kesihatan the following week and started on medication. That screening was the only reason I found out.

Remember the spouse only qualifies if they appear on the same STR household file. My wife is 44 but her name is not on it as a recipient, so the check came back not eligible for her and we had to sort the household details first.
