Sports Direct's extra 25% off when you buy 3 — do bundle thresholds ever actually save you more?

Sports Direct is running a Women's Month promotion at Pavilion Bukit Jalil from 19 October to 1 November 2026: an extra 25% off when you buy three items. On paper it is the easiest discount in the mall. In practice you have to find a third thing you actually wanted before you reach the counter. I went in on Sunday for one pair of training tights and came out with a sports bra and two tops I had not planned for, purely to clear the three-item line. The tights I wanted ended up being the smallest part of the basket, so the discount was real but the saving was mostly imaginary. How do you handle these bundle thresholds? Do you keep a running wishlist so the third item is something you needed anyway, split the basket with a friend at the till, or just walk away when the maths turns into shopping for the discount?

I keep a note on my phone of things I will need in the next two months and check it before any three-for promo. Last round it was socks and a second sports bra, and the tights were the only thing I bought on impulse.

Splitting with my sister works better than shopping alone. We each pick one item, pay separately, and the third thing is whatever we both wanted. No cashier has ever blinked at it.

Honestly the extra 25% has never beaten waiting for the end-of-season markdown on the one item I actually came in for. The bundle just moves the discount onto things I would not have bought otherwise.

Does anyone know whether accessories count towards the three? If a cap or a pair of socks qualifies, the whole calculation becomes much easier than hunting for two more tops.

Went on a weekday afternoon and the fitting room was empty, so at least I could try all three properly. Weekend crowds at Bukit Jalil make this kind of shopping miserable.

For me it is only worth it if the third item replaces something I was going to buy at full price anyway. Otherwise I am paying extra in order to feel like I saved something.
