The North Face at The Exchange TRX is closing with 50% off storewide — is a closing sale worth going in the first week?

The North Face store at The Exchange TRX is on its way out, and the closing sale opened on 27 October with 50% off storewide while stocks last. Closing sales in KL malls usually look better on day one than they actually are. The popular sizes and the lighter shells go early, the boards get re-papered as the weekend approaches, and by the second week you are mostly looking at the colours nobody wanted. That can still be fine if you only need something for the rain we are getting now. What I cannot tell from outside is whether the stock is being topped up from other outlets, and whether the marked-down pieces still carry the usual warranty or have been moved to final sale. If anyone has been down since Tuesday, what was actually left on the rails, and in which sizes?

Went past on the first evening and the jacket rail was already thin in small and medium. The larger sizes were still there in numbers, so it depends what you need.

Ask at the counter whether the closing stock still carries the usual warranty, or whether it has been pushed to final sale with no returns. That single answer decides it for me.

For the weather here a thin waterproof shell over a cheap fleece does more than a padded jacket you never get to wear. The shell is what I would look at first.

Does the discount reach the kids section as well? Raincoats and school bags are the things I actually need, not another adult jacket.

Ask the staff to check the back before you give up on a size. On closing sales they pull stock in from other outlets, so what is on the rail is not the whole picture.

If you have a cold trip booked for December, this is the month to look. Locally the decent shells sit at a level I would not touch outside a sale like this.
