Continental Tyres Malaysia runs its 11.11 mega sale from 8 to 11 November 2026, advertising up to 50% off selected tyres on Shopee, with free installation, balancing and rubber valves at the participating ECW Tyres outlets. Putting the order in is the easy part. What I keep going back and forth on is the fitting side, because a tyre is the one thing you cannot just unbox and use at home. The timing is the other half of it. The monsoon is back and the rain now arrives almost every afternoon, which is exactly when tread depth stops being a nice-to-have. The legal minimum here is 1.6mm, but wet grip is already going before a tyre is technically illegal, so anyone still on the original set from 2021 or 2022 is probably driving on less margin than they think. So for those who have bought tyres online before: how did the installation actually go, was there a partner shop near you, and did they honour the free fitting without an argument? I am also curious whether the tyres arrived with a recent production date or something that had been sitting in a warehouse for two years, and how the old tyre disposal and the alignment were handled, since those are the two things the listing never mentions.

The free fitting only works if there is a partner shop near you. I checked the list for my area and the nearest one was two towns away, so the drive cancelled out most of what the order saved.
Ask them to show you the DOT stamp on the sidewall before anything gets mounted. A tyre can sit in a warehouse for years and still look brand new, and old rubber hardens long before the tread wears out.
Balancing usually comes with the order, alignment almost never does. Set that aside as a separate cost or you finish the day with fresh tyres and exactly the same uneven wear pattern as before.
Who honours the warranty when one fails? At a shop you walk back in and talk to the same people. With an online order you can end up in the middle of the seller and the installer pointing at each other.
Nobody mentions old tyre disposal. Some shops quietly add a charge per piece when you collect the car, so ask about it at the counter before you hand over the keys and not after.
For the rain we get here I would not run a tyre anywhere near the legal limit. Once the tread is past about 3mm the aquaplaning on a soaked Federal Highway is very real, and it happens faster than people expect.
