Malaysian online sale calendar 2026
Online shopping in Malaysia follows a rhythm you can plan around. Some sale dates are fixed every year; the festive ones move with the lunar and Islamic calendars. Knowing which is which is what stops you buying at full price two weeks before a sale.

The fixed “double-date” sales
These run on the same calendar date every year:
- 1.1 — 1 January, New Year sale
- 9.9 — 9 September
- 10.10 — 10 October
- 11.11 — 11 November, usually the largest of the year
- 12.12 — 12 December, the follow-up to 11.11
Smaller versions exist on the same pattern through the year (2.2, 3.3, 4.4, 5.5, 6.6, 7.7, 8.8). They are predictable, which means the “deal” is predictable too — compare it against the normal price.
Fixed national and festive dates
- 1 May — Labour Day
- 31 August — Merdeka Day (National Day)
- 16 September — Malaysia Day
- 25 December — Christmas
- 1 January — New Year
Retail campaigns around these dates typically start one to two weeks before the day itself.
Festive seasons that move every year
Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Hari Raya Aidiladha and Deepavali follow the lunar and Islamic calendars, so their Gregorian dates shift each year. Their shopping campaigns are among the biggest in Malaysia and generally start two to four weeks before the festival.
We deliberately do not print a festival date we cannot verify: confirm the official date on the Malaysian government calendar for the year, then watch the stores in the weeks before it.
The payday effect
A large share of Malaysian salaries are paid at the end of the month. The last weekend of the month and the first days of the next are a recurring window for extra promotions — separate from the big branded sales above.
How to use this calendar
- For a big-ticket item, avoid buying in the two weeks before 11.11 or 12.12.
- Judge the discount on the price, not the banner: a “sale” that removes 5% is not a deal. Our editorial rule is a minimum of 25% off the original price.
